Mexico insurance & counter costs
Required liability is not the same as optional damage protection. Booking channel can change what is already included.
What coverage is required at pickup?
You must have Mexico-valid third-party liability. At Enterprise SJD that means buying Enterprise TPL unless you bring liability proof Enterprise accepts as explicitly valid in Mexico. CDW-TP/EPP are optional.
Third-party liability
The exact local TPL policy limit was not clearly published on the captured SJD branch page.
Damage protection (CDW / LDW)
Deposit impact
Basic cover: Minimum $500 USD authorization. Declining Enterprise TPL with accepted own Mexico liability proof adds 45,000 MXN (about $2,500 USD).
Fuller protection: Varies by vehicle, rental length and selected protection; no separate fixed EPP/full-protection authorization was published.
Deposit differs with basic required cover versus fuller protection — see details.

Liability details
Third-party liability is required in Mexico. Enterprise TPL must be purchased unless the renter presents valid current liability insurance explicitly covering Mexico that Enterprise accepts. Liability bought on third-party travel sites and liability bundled with U.S. credit/debit cards are not accepted.
Damage waiver details
CDW-TP is optional. If declined, the renter is responsible for the full value of damage to the vehicle. If purchased, a deductible of up to 95,000 MXN (about $5,000 USD) can apply; EPP bundles CDW-TP with deductible protection and other products.
Outside liability proof
Accepted under the rental company's liability conditions. See liability details and official sources.
Optional counter products
CDW-TP, EPP, PAI and roadside protection are optional beyond the required TPL unless accepted Mexico liability proof is presented.
